Apple is closing, or re-closing, to be precise, another 30 stores, including 15 in southern California, bringing the total to 70 amid the latest coronavirus spike, the tech giant said Wednesday.
Retail centers have become a benchmark for the spread of the coronavirus, with Apple being the first American company to announce the closure of stores in China in February, when the pandemic seized and followed the curve since then.
Apple will re-close stores in Alabama, California, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, and Oklahoma. The decision comes after the company said it would close stores in Texas, Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
“Due to current Covid-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas. We take this step with great caution as we closely monitor the situation and hope that our teams and customers will return as soon as possible, ”Apple said.
Southern California stores include Glendale Galleria, Northridge Pasadena, The Grove, Third Street Promenade, Century City, Manhattan Village, Beverly Center, Sherman Oaks, Topanga, Los Cerritos, Americana at Brand, Valencia Town Center, Victoria Gardens and The Oaks .
