AP calls for Democrat language on court-packing, urges reform

The Associated Press was forced to add an editorial note to a recent story about the Supreme Court on Saturday, in which the outlet felt as if the democratic strategy of packing the high court would “abolish” the bench.

This article written by Iris Samuels, San Steve Dines, R-Mont. And focusing on the debate between his Democratic opponent Gov. Steve Bullock in the upcoming election.

According to the AP’s original post report, “Bull said that if Connie Barrett is confirmed, he will be open to action to sabotage the court, including the inclusion of judges on the bench.

The report cites President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Amy Connie Barrett.

The matter of packing the court was presented as a way to “destroy” the bench, removed to reflect the idea that it is not a statement of fact, but the political opinion of a democratic legislator.

How will court packing work?

“This story has been edited to make it clear that it is Bull’s opinion, rather than a fact, adding judges to the Supreme Court would defame the court,” the editor’s note said.

The new line was changed as follows: “If Connie Barrett is confirmed, she will be open to action, including adding judges to the bench. Practice critics have worked to pack the court.”

Bullock echoed the AP’s sentiments and agreed that adding more judges would pave the way for less partisanship in the judiciary.

“We really need to make it harder for politics to get out of court,” he said. “It’s anything from the Judicial Standards Commission, or we’ll look into any other matters suggested, including adding a judge.”

Dines, who said he would support Barrett’s confirmation, claimed that adding judges to the bench would threaten gun rights and other constitutionally protected freedoms.
