Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Friday that the target audience for the Democratic National Convention this week was “white moderates” and that the Democratic Party could have done more to provide the party’s base.
‘Would I have done things differently? Of course. But as a young progressive Latina, I knew I was not the target audience for this convention. The target audience for this convention was white moderates who are not sure who to vote for in November, “the New York congresswoman wrote in her Instagram story.
“Do I agree with concentrating the programming on that audience? Not necessarily. I think we could have done more to win enthusiasm from our party’s base. ”

They also criticized a top Biden adviser who told the Wall Street Journal on Thursday that government administration in a Biden administration could be curtailed due to ballooning shortages under President Trump.
“We need massive investment in our country, or it will fall apart. This is not a joke. To take up GOP shortage now, now that millions of lives are at stake, is completely irresponsible,” she tweeted Thursday.
Ocasio-Cortez received a one-minute speech lock at the convention, which she uses for a pre-recorded address to nominate scenario Bernie Sanders, IV.t., for president. Despite the speech, she supports Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in the upcoming elections.

Sanders also said this week that the convention should have had more progressive votes.
“They should have spoken more progressives, and given their talking points,” he told the Washington Post Live in a virtual interview Thursday. “If your question is, ‘Should progressives, Alexandria and others, get more time?’ Yes, I think so. “
Progressive leaders, such as Sanders and Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, were given speaking time during the convention, but they were overshadowed by modern, founding figures of the Democratic Party.
The convention even featured some high-profile Republican critics of President Trump, such as former Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, in an attempt to prove Biden’s appeal to voters.

“I can also respect that the people who won the nomination get to call the shots,” she wrote on Instagram.
