Antonio Brown has expressed multiple times on social media over the past year that he was “retiring,” making it hard to believe that the former All-Pro wide receiver is sincere when he announces that he is retiring again on social media. That’s exactly what Brown took out on Twitter on Monday, sending more messages that he will walk away from the NFL, even though there is a team that is interested in signing him. At the same time, the Seattle Seahawks have been discussing hiring Brown this offseason, but as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports, there are a few prerequisites the team needs to part with the NFL.

“The Seahawks have delved into Brown,” Fowler said on SportsCenter. “They feel they have a good idea of who he is as a player and as a person. Several teams are on hold while waiting for a suspension. The NFL has not indicated how many games Brown will suspend” their problems, but at least there will be some. That’s what every team expects. ”

Brown came close to settling his case with Britney Taylor and scheduled mediation, but then withdrew, according to Fowler. This is the second time Brown has approached a deal before publicly hinting at his retirement soon after. Taylor, a former Brown coach, charged him with sexual assault and rape in a civil lawsuit last September.

If Brown signed with an NFL team, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has hinted that he would likely end up on the commissioner’s Exemption List until his investigation into the sexual assault allegations (which led to his release from the New England Patriots last year).

Here is the latest from Brown:

Brown has done this trick before, the first in which he would walk away from football if he couldn’t wear the NFL-approved old helmet instead of the new term, leading to an ugly finale with the Raiders. Brown then followed up on September the first Sunday that he was not on an NFL team as he was drafted after his release from the Patriots, saying he “will not play in the NFL.”

Retirement positions are hard to take seriously, especially after Brown was preparing for an NFL comeback a month ago. Let’s see what happens if Seattle (or any team) gives him a chance to return.
