Antonio Brown to the Buccaneers means they are going to the Super Bowl!
No one is winning the 2020 NFL offseason like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After seeing the end of his 2019 season in another pick-six by quarterback Jameis Winston, the Tampa Bay boss decided they couldn’t get 30/30 in 2020 again. Winston was a talented player, but he was too error-prone for the Buccaneers to be a viable playoff threat in a deep NFC.
The Buccaneers added Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski on offense, and it can’t be done.
Former NFL general manager and writer for The athleticMike Lombardi appeared on ESPN The Pat McAfee Show Tuesday morning and alluded to how the Buccaneers plan to sign former perennial Pro Bowl catcher Antonio Brown. This “breaking news” caught McAfee completely off guard as he paced his studio, trying to make sense of it all.
Popular sports talk radio host JT the Brick said he has been hearing similar things like Lombardi. Brady and Brown were briefly teammates with the New England Patriots last season. Brown even stayed with Brady and his family during his extremely short tenure with the AFC East franchise. There are other things to consider, but everything is starting to line up for Brown to join this Mötley Crüe.
If Antonio Brown joins the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they secured the NFC.
It’s five o’clock somewhere, and here’s a reason to pour yourself a stiff cocktail and celebrate if you’re a Buccaneers fan.
First, Tampa Bay should already be among the top seven NFC teams on its list. The NFC South has three potential playoff teams in the Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, and New Orleans Saints, but two or maybe even three teams are entering.
Second, as much as we praise the Buccaneers’ offense, it will be the defense that will take them to the postseason. Simply put, Todd Bowles is too good to be a longtime NFL defensive coordinator. It’s in a great place to not train the Jet-sy New York Jets anymore. It is highly likely that he will succeed his mentor Bruce Arians as the Buccaneers’ next head coach when Arians retires.
Third, Arians is Mr. “No risk, no cookies.” It’s a Tompa Bay Gronkaneers party on the Florida Gulf Coast. He wants to win a Super Bowl as head coach, very, very badly. Arians left the FOX booth after a season to take on a Buccaneer situation that wasn’t as bad as we thought. And guess who played wide receiver for two years in the early 2010s with the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Brown, baby! After an embarrassing season for himself and professionally, Brown looks set to return to the NFL grid. Given his 2019 forms of self-sabotage, Brown will sign for pennies on the dollar to be a glorious n receiver. # 3 in Tampa alongside Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Brown played for years alongside other talented scorers in Pittsburgh. It is not a big thing.
If Arians and Brady want to win a Super Bowl in 2020, they have to bring Brown into the building. Brady plans to play three more years before hanging the spikes. Maybe he and Arians ride together into the sunset? Brown is back in his native Florida these days. If he joins the team, Tampa Bay may be the first team to play a Super Bowl at his home stadium. Fire the cannons!
