The Chargers beat the Falcons on Sunday, knocking out the Patriots, who lost 45-0 last week to the Patriots. But Los Angeles continues to manage poorly in game-like situations.
Sunday’s game is more reminiscent of Buffalo’s November 29 defeat than last week’s embarrassing special teams. At the end of Sunday’s second quarter, the Chargers didn’t have a timeout and 22 seconds on the clock for the third and 1st play on Atlanta’s eight-yard line.
The obvious choice – really, the only choice – is to go through that situation. If you run and the sticks don’t pass, you can’t spike to stop the clock and there isn’t enough time to set the field goal team and kick away.
The Chargers, of course, drove Cullen Belage in the middle and to no avail. Although the field goal unit of Los Angeles made a brave effort, there were enough players going on and off the field to remove that kick in time.
In the television broadcast, head coach Anthony Lin can be seen Speed of throwing To his abusive coordinator Shane Steichen, Lynn probably said some version, “Why didn’t you call the pass?”
After the game, Lynn knew her team had to spend three points in the game.
“You can’t run the ball in that position,” Lachan was quoted as saying by Gilbert Manzano of the Southern California News Group. “You just can’t. We try to be aggressive, but you can’t run the ball in that situation and that’s it, that’s the area where we’ve got coaching staff, communication wise, and improvement. But you can’t run the ball there. ”
If this were a lonely event, it would be one thing, but Lynn and her team have been suffocating these conditions all year. Lynn will reportedly retain his job by the end of the season, but he probably doesn’t have much of a chance to show the improvement he claims.
