Another Upper bar temporarily closes after exposure to COVID-19

The President Bar at Superior is temporarily closed after several people associated with the location tested positive for COVID-19, according to a press release from the Douglas County Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday.

Officials advise people who have spent time at the bar in the past two weeks to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. If symptoms develop, seek tests and self-quarantine until results return, according to the statement. Tests are available through Essentia Health, St. Luke’s, and Lake Superior Community Health Center.

The county will continue to monitor and report businesses that are associated with two or more positive cases.

The President Bar, 3824 E. Second St., is one of several bars to be temporarily closed in Superior this week due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the county.

Seventeen new cases have been reported in Douglas County in the past week. Before June 25, it had been almost three weeks since a new case was confirmed.
