Neither Jolie nor Pitt have discussed their divorce in any detail with the media. This has led to years of speculation about the reason for the split.
What is known for sure was that there was an incident in September 2016. While the family was flying back to California, something happened between Pitt and the couple’s eldest son, Maddox.
This led to Jolie filing for divorce and accusing Pitt of child abuse. Two investigations into the case have the Oceans 11 star of every crime.
In a recent interview with Vogue, The Eternals star eventually shared some insight into why she ended her marriage.
‘I am divorcing for the welfare of my family. It was the right decision. I will continue to concentrate on her healing, ”said Jolie. ‘Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media. But I remind her that she knows her own truth and her own thoughts. In fact, they are six very brave, very strong young people. ”

Even though Jolie and Pitt are still trying to resolve the issues of child care and child distribution, they are legally divorced. The private judge in her case – Judge John W. Ouderkirk – granted a bifurcation in 2019.
This means they are both legally single while continuing to negotiate the details of their settlement.
It’s no secret that this split has been one of the hottest Hollywood ever seen. And it does not seem like there is an end in sight. According to Page Six, Jolie’s legal team recently filed a motion in the Los Angeles Superior Court seeking to disqualify Ouderkirk from the case.

An insider says this is probably a ‘delaying tactic’ on Jolie’s part.
“In principle, Jolie is trying to shoot the private judge who is overseeing her divorce case. She has the right to do so, but if she thought she was in the right place in this legal process, she would not have to do it, ”the insider explained.

The insider claims that Jolie’s request for a new judge is “a classic case of someone who expects a bad decision to delay the process by asking for a new referee.”
However, Jolie’s legal team says the Oscar-winning actress was “worried that something untouched was happening.” They claim that in court documents that Ouderkirk has an ongoing professional and financial relationship with the attorneys of Pitt, Anne C. Kiley and Lance Spiegel.
This allegation was presumably Pitt’s legal team ‘little secret.’ The court documents claim that Jolie’s lawyer discovered the peculiar relationship between the judge and Pitt’s legal team on his own initiative. She also states that this “truth” must have been revealed a long time ago.
Another insider told Page Six that Jolie was not trying to delay the divorce process. They pointed out that the court papers state that they “want to resolve this issue with the judge so that there are no further delays.”
Jolie’s lawyers filed the motion on August 7, demanding the judge’s disqualification. Judge Ouderkirk has 10 days to respond.
