Palm springs, the new time travel comedy starring Brooklyn nine nineAndy Samberg has broken a Hulu broadcast record.
Directed by Max Barbakow and written by Andy Siara, Palm springs follow the carefree Nyles (Samberg) and the reluctant bridesmaid Sarah (Christin Milioti) who have a chance meeting at a wedding. Then things get complicated as they cannot escape the place, themselves or each other due to an “infinite cycle of time”.
After receiving positive reviews across the board, and earning a 100% certified new rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the comedy has now achieved new recognition thanks to Hulu.
A broadcast service spokesperson confirmed to IndieWire that Palm springs broke the platform’s weekend opening record after racking up more hours viewed during its first three days than any other movie on Hulu in the same period.
Earlier this month, Samberg admitted that despite the film’s success, he was nervous about the role and all the “legitimate acting” it would have to do.
Speaking to Coming soonHe said, “There was a little bit more ‘legitimate acting’, as people would say. Obviously I feel very comfortable with comedy, but I have much less experience with more dramatic things. I would say that that was the main difference for me getting into that “.
Meanwhile, Andy Samberg was one of the cameos in last night’s 30 Rock reunion special.
The single episode came seven years after the show’s final episode and featured appearances by original cast members Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski, and Jack McBrayer.
The gathering also saw cameos from various stars, including Ted Danson, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Mandy Moore, Andy Cohen, Hoda Kotb, and Mario López.
