Ancient spaceship model ‘Fortnite’, POIs and challenges All leak online

Well, not much happened in-game in the big Fortnite patch today. Cars were supposed to be added, but apparently they were archived at the last minute, so the only really interesting thing came from data mining in the coming weeks.

From FortTory comes the reveal of an old spaceship, a new in-game POI and model that is a bit of a mystery and could be a sign of what’s to come in future seasons of the game.

The spaceship and POI have been added to the patch backend, but are now not live in-game. I checked. This is what the “Accident Site” POI is supposed to be on the map, just off the north coast near the steep cliffs:

In short, we need the water to go down further in order to see it.

Before everyone arrives too excited about an alien invasion, we know that the ship is piloted by someone we already know in the game. That would be Siona, this season’s battle pass skin that has an astronaut outfit with and without a helmet.

We can see this ship on the Season 3 loading screen, although no one has noticed it before. So it is piloted by it, not by aliens. Well maybe she is an alien? There is also a male astronaut model that has also been leaked, so perhaps it was her co-pilot on the two-seater.

However, this is not just a unique Easter egg. There are real “Ancient Astronaut” challenges attached to this ship every time it arrives. And those are:

• Ancient ship found
• Pick up missing part
• Install missing part
• Start launch sequence
• Stop launching the boat

A kind of weird set of challenges when it ends with “stopping the launch of the ship”, but we’ll see where this goes. With nothing else actually on the map, this looks like something that could lead to future Fortnite seasons.

One place where Fortnite is not yet truly gone is space. We made the visitor crash from his little meteor pod, but that was it. But if Siona did make it to an ancient spacecraft, that raises questions about who she is and where she’s from, and if we could ever get real aliens in Fortnite, if Siona isn’t a human-looking alien, I suppose. Maybe she traveled back in time from the future? Who knows.

Anyway, this is the first cool thing I’ve seen unearthed in Fortnite in a while, as this has been a fairly lukewarm season with the only changes on the map that have lowered the water level. If this little ship is revealed soon, I wonder what else could be discovered by the time we get to the end.
