October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and TV host and personality Anand Lewis said she has been battling stage 3 breast cancer for the past two years. Now she is sharing her story and some of the mistakes she experienced she made as a precautionary story for other women.
Lewis, 47, shared the news in a video message on Instagram yesterday. She started with an apology to any of her friends and family members who may have been hurt by the fact that she chose to speak about her diagnosis in public first.
B.E.T.S. “I’ve been refusing mammograms for a very long time, and that was a mistake,” said Lewis, a former host of Na. Teen Summit And Joy Lewis Shaw. “I saw my mom get mammograms for about 30 years, and at the end of it, she got breast cancer, and I said,‘ Huh? Radiation exposure over the years has been the equivalent of breast cancer. Yes, I’m going to go through. Thank you. ‘”
Although Lewis still stands by his belief that too much radiation can cause cancer, those women want mammograms to be one of the most powerful tools they have in early detection and also want to get one as soon as possible. As Lewis waited, she had two positron emission tomography (PET) scans, which gave her body more radiation than annual prevention mammograms.
“If I had done mammograms from the time they were recommended, when I was 40, my breast exam – self-exam” and they would have caught a tumor in my breasts years before it was captured by thermography, “Lewis said. “And they would have caught him where he was more organized – where his treatment would have been a little easier. It’s never been easier, but I use that term more than anything I’m going through now. Instead, the one I’m dealing with is stage 3 breast cancer which is in my lymph. I need to get your mammograms. ”
Lewis chose the path of alternative treatment after his diagnosis. “I’m doing 100 percent alternative and natural protocols and treatments and I’ve helped spread this special condition like a fire in my body,” Lewis said, stopping the fight against tears. “It’s good news, but it’s not gone, and I still have a lot of work to do. And, I wish I could go back. “
Lewis promised her fans that she would not give up and that she would not let breast cancer rob her of her joy: “I need to stay here for nine years,” he said. “I have no intention of leaving him. I don’t want to leave any of my kids. I don’t want to leave my friends or my family. Hell, I don’t want to leave myself. I like coming here. So, listen, this isn’t what it used to be, but it will keep real with you as I always do. ”
Lewis then made a special request to look at anyone: “You need to share your life with the women I was about the mammogram can be so stubborn and I need you to tell them they have to do this. Early screening, especially for breast cancer, changes your outcome. It could save their lives. “
Now that Lewis has announced her diagnosis, she said she will be more open with her fans and will share more updates about her health going forward.
“It was important for me that you come to me and admit where I went wrong, because it could help you or someone you know,” Lewis said. “This is an ongoing journey for me.”
