“We canceled the sequel because we saw an opportunity to give players a slightly faster chance than creating a newer, better version,” Inersloth’s developer, who makes between us, told CNN Business. “It will work more in the long run, but we players are excited to improve the game, and suddenly there’s a new feature or map that unlocks new experiences.”
It costs $ 5 on our PC games store Steam or indie store Itch.io, and it’s free with ads on mobile. Players can make additional purchases to decorate and customize their game characters. Inersloth declined to comment on sales figures and total revenue.
The game requires four to 10 players, assigned to the role of crumate or impostor. Initially there are always more crews than impostors. Throughout the game, the crumates try to complete their tasks and the experimenters try to kill the crew and sabotage the spaceship without being caught.
We have a lot of lies, accusations and angry denials – a perfect recipe for social media engagement. YouTube’s biggest personal creator, PuddPP, has played it, as has rapper and singer Solja Boy.
All popularity begs the question, what is next for us? Innersloth developers know they should increase their success and keep players engaged. His decision to cut the sequel is understandable, experts say.
Cassia Curran, Wings Interactive’s advisor, said, “Creating this sequel ends up dividing the audience. It’s better to keep engagement high on the current game and drive more monetization through purchases in the game.”
“The team plans to add features to us, including the ability to join friends, color blind mode and a way to customize the controls,” said Vinard, an innerslot developer.
“That’s why people enjoy time and time again,” he said.
