The largest American theater chain celebrates the revival of screens with award-winning 1920s on August 20th.
AMC Theaters will reopen its U.S. screens on August 20 with 15-centric movie ticket prints, remembering the cost of attending Kansas City’s first location in 1920.
The largest domestic circuit, shut down during the coronavirus pandemic, expects to open about 100 U.S. theaters in one week, about one-sixth of its circuit. To mark the relaunch, seats sold for film versions on August 20 will be available for the 1920 admission price of 15 cents.
“While our guests return on August 20 on our first day of reimbursed operations, we invite them to take part in celebrating a return to the movies, and in celebrating 100 years of AMC making smiles happen with films at 1920 prices of only 15 cents each, “AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron said in a statement.
About 300 additional AMC locations nationwide are expected to open in the next two weeks ahead of Disney’s theatrical release The New Mutants on Aug. 28 and Warner Bros. ‘ Tenet on sept. The AMC Theaters circuit, when reopened in phases, will function against diminished capacity to meet local health constraints amid the pandemic.
The remaining one-third of AMC’s U.S. theaters as of early September are expected to open after they are authorized to do so by state and local officials. After the relaunch on August 20, AMC will be showing throwback movie titles as well Black Panther, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters en Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back – with each movie on sale for $ 5.00 per ticket, for screens on dates other than August 20th.
And food and beverages on the concession stand will also be sold in part through reduced prices through October.
While AMC’s US theater has closed during the pandemic, its international movie theaters have returned a limited operation and are expected to open mostly by the end of this month.
AMC Theaters, to deal with the impact of the pandemic, has also signed a historic agreement with Universal Pictures allowing studio videos to be made available on premium video-on-demand after just 17 days of playing in cinemas, including three weekends.
