Amber Heard was a “sociopath”, a “Machiavellian supreme lord” and the “abuser” in the relationship between her and Johnny Depp, the actor’s former personal assistant has claimed in the higher court.
Stephen Deuters was giving evidence on the fifth day of Depp’s defamation action against the Sun for an article calling him a “handcuff puncher” and referring to “overwhelming evidence” that he attacked Heard, 34, during their relationship, what he denies.
In his written witness statement, Deuters alleged that Heard subjected Depp, 57, to “years of abuse,” and said he was “extremely surprised and outraged” when it was made public that he had requested a temporary restraining order against the Hollywood star.
Sasha Wass QC, representative for News Group Newspapers, publisher of The Sun, asked how she felt when Depp and Heard finally broke up. She agreed that she would have been “relieved”.
The attorney then read a text message from Deuters to a friend of Depp’s, actor Paul Bettany, on May 26, 2016, saying: “That moment when everything comes home to rest and all the shit accumulates in a monstrous pile of smoking catastrophe. ” .
“I’m just trying to keep him upright right now. But at least the bitch is gone. Yes, I mean Amber, not Mom.
Poor Betty Sue [Depp‘s mother] has been dating for the past six months, it was a relief to everyone, especially to herself. “
The following message from Deuters, apparently describing Heard, read: “Sociopathic show pony. Machiavellian lord.
Pussy without talent. Have a good trip to bad shit. Yes, I mean Amber is not the mom, even though she was a devil herself.
Wass said Deuters had previously said that he would not have used that word to describe a woman, to which he replied, “I certainly regret that.”
Wass accused Deuters of being part of “a public relations initiative to discredit Ms. Heard in public view.”
Depp’s attorney, David Sherborne, then asked Deuters how he would describe the relationship between Depp and Heard.
Deuters replied, “It’s not great. I think it was two people who were in love with each other and should not have been together.”
Sherborne asked, “Did you see Mr. Depp hit Ms. Heard at any time?
“Did you see him act violently towards Mrs. Heard at any time?”
Deuters answered “no” to both questions.
Sherborne then asked, “If you had seen him do it, would you have sat down and let it happen?”
Deuters said, “Absolutely not.”
The trial continues.
