Amazon is officially delaying the first day

Customers who have been waiting the first day to get great deals on Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) You will have to wait a little longer. The online retail leader confirmed that Prime Day, which usually takes place in mid-July, will be postponed to a later date.

No day for offers

Amazon has seen extraordinary order growth throughout the pandemic as people stayed home and relied on the shipping master to supply their essentials for the home.

The company reduced non-essential orders in April when the load became too large to withstand logistical changes and new safety requirements for workers. Although nonessential orders have been reinstated, new locks and an increase in coronavirus cases mean the situation may change for Amazon in the near future. That makes Prime Day, Amazon’s annual two-day sales event, challenging.

Looking to the future

Amazon reportedly told outside vendors in an email that they should make the week of October 5 available for a possible first day.

In addition to the logistical and security details that are difficult in the current environment, Amazon could lose sales because consumer spending across the country has decreased during the pandemic. June retail sales were better than May, which was better than April, but in most categories spending continues to decrease year after year. Prime Day’s chances of success are likely to be better in October, when the economy is expected to show further signs of stability.
