The lightning seems to have struck twice. A week ago, Amazon was sending emails informing people with PS5 pre-orders that their console might not arrive one day. Now, the e-commerce giant is passing on the same message that set the alarm to receive Xbox Series X orders nice and early.
Twitter eager Wannabe is afraid to share the frustrated Amazon email of Xbox Series X owners. The note begins, “We are contacting you about your order of the Xbox X Series X, to let you know in advance that you will not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand.”
“We are making every effort with the supplier to get more inventory. We will provide additional updates once more information becomes available. ”
Amazon has sent an email warning in advance that the Xbox Series X East could not be launched due to high demand. Email is similar to the PS5 (and similarly high-demand items in the past). It’s almost identical to Amazon’s PS5 warning words, except that the company “will make every effort to deliver the item to you once it is released.” Perhaps the semi-automated nature of email is an indication that Amazon is just wary, but at the moment it’s impossible to know.
This is just the latest shock in the pre-order process, to put it mildly, already very stressful. By publishing the date and time when the pre-order would open, Microsoft began a brilliant comparison with Sony, the process quickly turned into a bedlam.
Our own head of Matthew Murray testing outlined his own experiences trying to get the unit here. “All the websites were overloaded in one way or another, and all gave us weird error messages and problems,” he said. Amazon was no exception with the bugs for the Series X, and there is no option to buy the entry-level Series S.
Amazon email leaves Day One One optimists in a difficult situation. After all, that’s not to say they won’t get a one-day machine, just that they “don’t”. So, what do shoppers do if more pre-order options appear in the next few weeks? Are they doubled? Or do they just roll the dice and hope Amazon delivers figuratively and literally?
While Microsoft did not follow up with Sony to apologize for the free-for-all free order or promised more units in advance, the company tweeted that it “expected[s] More consoles will be available on November 10th. ”
We are humbled by the record-breaking demand for Xbox Series X and S. Thank you so much everyone for the excitement. If you are not successful today be sure to sign up with retailers for updates, and expect more consoles to be available on November 10th. 💚September 22, 2020
Given that November 10 is actually launch day, it’s probably a limited consolation for those who think they’ve explored the chaos to land on a day-one console. However, if you are currently empty handed and no pre-order stock appears between now and then, then you set your alarm in early November 10th.
