Amanda Nunes defends title vs. Megan Anderson in December

For the third time in the past four years, UFC dual-weight champion Amanda Nunes will defend one of her titles in December.

Nunes (20-4) will face fatweight contender Megan Anderson (10-4) by Dec. 12 at a designated location, per multiple sources. The £ 145 prize will take place at a pay-per-view event, which is expected to be UFC 256.

Nunes, 32, is expecting the birth of her first child in September with partner and UFC striker Nina Ansaroff. After defending their featherweight title against Felicia Spencer in June, Nunes responded to a potential break, but eventually decided to stay active. December has historically been a good month. Since 2016, she defeated Ronda Rousey, Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Germaine de Randamie in the last month of the calendar year.

This will be the second consecutive defense of their championship for weightlifting and second defense of the title overall. She has also defended the bantamweight title five times.

Anderson, 30, comes out of a first-round knockout of Norma Dumont in February. She is 3-2 overall in the UFC, but all three of her victories have come through first-round stoppages. Their losses have come against Spencer and Holly Holm.
