Aluna Francis has announced her first solo album: Renaissance arrives on August 28 via Mad Decent. The album includes “Body Pump” and “Warrior”, as well as a new song called “Get Paid”, featuring Princess Nokia and Jada Kingdom. Listen to “Pay” below.
“‘Get Paid’ is an aspirational celebration of paying black women and women of color, as opposed to the reality that we are constantly undervalued by our work.” Aluna said in a statement. “On the other hand, this is a song about believing that we deserve to be paid because as society continues to tell us that we are worthless, we internalize that notion, which is almost more damaging because it prevents us from advocating for ourselves.”
AlunaGeorge, Aluna’s duet with producer George Reid, last released Memory in September 2016.
