Alonzo Brooks’ body exhumed after ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ episode in 16-year unsolved case

The body of Alonzo Brooks, a man whose case appeared in an episode of Netflix’s “Unsolved Mysteries”, has been exhumed.

The FBI recently reopened the 16-year-old case of the 23-year-old black man who went missing in 2004 after a party in the mostly white city of La Cygne, Kansas. His body was not found until weeks later on the edge of a stream. The FBI is currently offering a $ 100,000 reward for information resulting in an arrest related to the Brooks case.

The Brooks family said they have received new advice with information on the case since the mystery series episode aired earlier this month.

The local Topeka, Kansas news station, KSNT, was the first to report the news.

Terry Meurer, co-creator of the original “Unsolved Mysteries” and executive producer of the Netflix reboot, told TheWrap that the Brooks case is based on the presence of new witnesses who have remained silent. The Brooks family has speculated that his death may have been the result of a hate crime.

“In the case of Alonzo Brooks, there were many children who were at the party that night,” said Meurer. “They were all 16 years old, some were under 16, 17 and 18 years old. And those children are now in their early thirties. There are some in that crowd who know what happened to Alonzo.
