PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Allegheny County Health Department is implementing a stay-a-home advisory, requiring people to leave their homes just for work, school and essential activities amid a surge in coronavirus cases.
Allegheny County leaders held their weekly coronavirus briefing on Wednesday as the Pittsburgh area continues to see county executives call the affluent Fitzgerald “horrible numbers.”

Dr. Director of Health. Debra Bozen was declared a consultant, effective immediately, saying the increase in cases was “very relevant.”
“Over the last few weeks, I’ve been telling people to follow the rules, reduce the number of events and parties that have gathered, stay home and wear masks except for necessities,” Dr. Said Debra Bozen.
“I am done asking, and today I tell you that we should do all this to bring down the spread and keep our community safe. Today I issue a stay-at-home and ‘Stop Social Gatherings’ public health consultant. ”

It is not an implementation of staying at home, but there are clear recommendations about staying at home and stopping social gatherings.
He says people can just leave their home for essential activities like work, school and medical care or grocery shopping.
People shouldn’t even have guests in their home, and he asks people to cancel their traditional Thanksgiving gatherings with other household members.

Allegheny has set another one-day record with 620 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours. COVID-19 is thought to have caused two more deaths on Wednesday.
Dr. Bojan said that in this case the increase is a threat to our health system as more people have been admitted to the hospital. The increase in deaths is also after an additional few weeks of the case, he said.
She said the sharp rise in these cases is not due to increasing testing, and that the percentage-positive rate continues to rise.
Fitzgerald said the number of cases is increasing due to post-case and post-work activities. With the vaccine probably months away, he says now is not the time to disappoint our guards.
“We can do this,” he said. “I know we can do this.”

Statewide, now masks need to be worn indoors and outdoors if you are away from home.
Anyone who visits any other state within 72 hours of entering Pennsylvania must be tested for negative COVID-19. If they cannot get or choose the test, or they are still waiting for the results, they will have to be kept apart for 14 days. The same is true for visiting other states in Pennsylvania and returning home.
