Allegheny County provides interactive maps detailing neighborhood-specific coronavirus data – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA): Every day at 11:00 am, the county provides the latest numbers regarding COVID-19 cases, including hospitalizations and deaths.

However, those numbers are generalized. So how can more information be found?

Turns out it’s as close as your mouse or a click of your finger.

Since Allegheny County has been providing numbers, they have been posting them on an interactive website and a search in Allegheny County, results will be provided.

All these statistics are available and there are many ways to interpret what is presented.

The system is far from perfect, and there is a delay in bringing test results to the county.

The 331 positive cases reported Tuesday were from June 8. The positive cases, which are reflected on the Allegheny County Interactive Map, date back to the beginning of the pandemic.

Those delays don’t mean that suddenly many more people are sick.

However, what can we do with all this information?

CLOCK: John Shumway interview with Dr. Lee Harrison

KDKA’s John Shumway spoke to the President of the Allegheny County Board of Health.

“I think it is great that we have a very specific neighborhood date in cases of COVID, but in reality, we know that the virus is widely circulating in this region and we must assume that we basically have COVID in our communities and therefore the same Precautions we always take for COVID should basically apply, ”said Dr. Lee Harrison, chairman of the Allegheny County Board of Health.

Many people just want to see the end of the pandemic, so is that in the future?

“We clearly need a vaccine and it is difficult to predict when we will have a vaccine,” said Dr. Harrison. “If it is safe and the majority of the population is vaccinated, that could be the beginning of the end.”

Dr. Harrison noted that the CDC estimates that for every diagnosed case, there are 10 that go undiagnosed.

All of this information and the breakdown of the numbers mean that healthcare professionals will tell people that they must reinforce the need to continue safety efforts: wearing a mask, disinfecting, socially distancing themselves and others indefinitely.
