All the sea creatures you can dive through in ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’

I thought I was getting closer to finishing the aquarium wing on my Animal Crossing: New Horizons museum, but man, was I wrong. The July update only brought swimming, which means your little villager can now explore the oceans surrounding the island and dive in search of new creatures to complete the water, and managed to deliver a ton of specimens to Blathers this morning, and there is no feeling of seeing those new things appear there.

There are an absolute ton of sea creatures available, but unlike fish or insects, there is no real way to tell what you might be looking at before collecting them. You just need to swim and look for a few bubbles to pop up: when you see them, press Y to dive in and move into the shade. All shadows look the same, from what I can see, so you have to go and see what it is.

It will take you more or less all year to get them all, just like with insects and fish. Let’s take a look at what appears to be on sale, with credit to a few different sources for the compilation. I’ll update with more information soon, like what’s available right now and what you’ll have to wait to get later in the year.

Among all of these, the Scallop deserves a special note: when you get one of these, you’ll get a visit from the cold Sea Otter Pascal, which will give you a DIY recipe from the Mermaid outfit. And it will all go to Blathers, of course, and I must say, I really love how the aquarium develops. Some underutilized areas are really opening up now, and it’s charming.
