Netflix’s “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga” debuted with songs about lions and volcanoes and celebrity-filled scenes featuring Will Ferrell, Rachel McAdams, Dan Stevens and even Demi Lovato. However, true Eurovision fans are unfolding over the cameos of Eurovision winners and contestants in real life.
After showcasing the vocal styles of the fictional characters, starving for international acclaim from the song contest, director David Dobkin turned attention to the true Eurovision stars for a talented scene. In the film, Ferrell and McAdams are members of the downtrodden band “Fire Saga.” The two Icelandic singers (named Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdóttir) have only one dream: to win the Eurovision song contest. However, their talents and backgrounds have always been scarce when they compete against the country’s biggest pop star, Katiana (Lovato). But with a bit of luck (and a few elven prayers) the duo arrives on the main stage and is completely immersed among Eurovision celebrities. It is here that the Netflix movie allows fans of this decades-long contest to relive their love for the best artists of Eurovision’s past.
