Alia Shawkat will not scream “Marry me!” Brad Pitt.
The 31-year-old “Arrested Development” star finally addressed reports that she and Pitt, 56, were dating after being seen together at the “LA on Fire” art show in November.
“We are not dating. We are just friends, ”he told Vulture. “I have a press, but not like this. Not so uncontrollable.
Page Six learned shortly after the photos went viral that they were just good friends.
Shawkat was horrified by how much the news cycle focused on her, and even how much her friends weren’t doing well enough.
“I thought, ‘I don’t believe this,'” he recalled. “All my friends were like ‘What’s going on?’ and sending me pictures. I felt overwhelmed. It’s that feeling of being naked at school, like, ‘OMG, everyone is looking at me.’ “
The “Search Party” star explained that she met the Oscar winner through director Spike Jonze.
“We became friends, and Brad introduced me to his group of friends, and he grew from there,” she said, noting that news coverage focused on how she and Pitt didn’t seem like an expected couple.
“For them it’s like, ‘We don’t get it! This girl is weird! She is very different! Why are they hanging out? She said, laughing. “You get too close to the prom king and suddenly everyone says, ‘Well, who is this bitch?'”
