“Danger!” Host Alex Trebek plans to suspend cancer treatment if his current round fails, according to an interview with the New York Times.

“Yesterday morning, my wife came to me and said, ‘How are you feeling?’ And I said, ‘I feel like I want to die.’ It was so bad, “Trebek told the newspaper.” There comes a time when you have to make a decision about whether you want to continue with such a low quality of life, or if you just want to move on to next level. It doesn’t bother me in the least.

Trebek has been battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which has a 9% survival rate, since last year. The old “Danger!” The presenter returned to the stage to record the show in August, after his first round of treatment. In a video released earlier this week that updated fans about his health, he said follow-up treatments “were going well” despite the fact that “I’m very fatigued.”

“Once again, I can’t wait to go back to the studio and start recording shows for the new season in September,” Trebek said in the clip.

Trebek will be 80 years old by the end of this month and is ready to release a memoir, “The Answer Is …: Reflections on My Life,” via Simon & Schuster.

The presenter reiterated to the New York Times that he hopes to continue doing the program as long as he can, but plans to withdraw if his physical condition worsens. It is a quality program, and I think I do a good job of hosting. and when it starts to slip, I will stop accommodating, “he said.
