Green Bay – receiver Alan Lazard played with a major muscle injury during the Packers’ 30-37-30 win over New Orleans on Sunday, head coach Matt Lafler confirmed Friday morning.
Lazard, who missed Thursday’s practice, had a career-high 146-yard six-pass and a touchdown in Sunday night’s 37-30 match against the New Orleans Saints. He currently leads the Packers with 254 yards and 13 catches for two touchdowns.
Head coach Matt LaFleur did not specify how long Lazard would miss, but praised the second-year receiver’s toughness after playing 59 of 62 offensive pics (95%) against the Saints despite the injury.
“It’s an unfortunate deal,” Laughler said. “They’re as tough as they come. That’s what you like about that guy. He’s a fantastic competitor. He’s unfortunate but he’s that. There’s a chance for others that he’ll go ahead and make his own place.”
Behind Divante Adams and Marquis Valdes-Scantling are a pair of young receivers, Darius Shepherd and Malik Taylor in the piers, including the 53-man roster and four others on the practice team (Reggie Bagalton, Robert Foster, Caleb Scott and Juan) Winfrey.
