Hazman Trophy finalists Mac Jones and Devonta Smith have been selected to the Associated Press All-America team, which leads Alabama’s team of five players in first-team offense.
Crimson Tideback facing private Harris, Alex Leatherwood and center Landon Dickerson are also first-team picks. No. 1 Alabama is the first team since 1980, when the AP All-America team began to feature a back receiver and two receivers in the first team, to place quarterbacks.
Cornwack Patrick Suren II gives the Crimson Tide a selection of the first six teams, the highest in the country. No. 4 Notre Dame, Alabama’s Football League football playoff opponent this weekend, offensive defender Aaron Banks and linebacker Jeremiah Owsu-Koramoh are the two first-team All-Americans.
Florida’s Kyle Tresc was selected as the second team’s quarterback and Clemson’s fellow Heisman finalist Trevor Lawrence was the third team’s quarterback from the AP teams that were eliminated on Monday. Lawrence, a potential first pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, made AP All-America for the first time in his career.
Clemson will face No. 2 in the CFP semifinals in the Sugar Bowl on Friday night, with only one other player selected in the All-America teams: back-running Travis Etienne being the first-team all-purpose player. The senior has been the other team’s All-American while running back in the last two seasons.
Ohio State Guard Wyatt Davis is the only player to repeat as a first-team All-American since making it in 2020. Davis Cornerback is one of two first-team bookies with Shawn Wade.
