Alabama Mayor Resigns After Post About Crimson Tide BLM Video

CARBON HILL, Ala. – A controversial Alabama mayor has resigned after posting derogatory comments about the University of Alabama football team expressing support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Carbon Hill Mayor Mark Chambers presented his resignation letter to the city secretary on Saturday, the media reported. The city council has not yet approved it, but an emergency meeting will be held on Wednesday.

A Chambers Facebook post on Saturday said he was selling his photos of the Alabama football team and head coach Nick Saban because of his “unfortunate” political views. He said “the tide is done in my opinion”.

In a video shared by Alabama football, Saban and the players read an essay by Crimson Tide’s offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood, who wrote: “All lives cannot matter until black lives matter.”

Chambers previously faced scrutiny last year for complaining on social media about “baby killers” and “socialists,” saying “gays teach us about morals” and “transvestites talk about human biology. “

Chambers wrote: “The only way to change it would be to eliminate the problem.”

Chambers initially denied the comment but later apologized. Two members of the municipal council later reportedly resigned because they did not want to be associated with their comments.

Carbon Hill is located on the outskirts of Birmingham and has around 2,000 residents.
