Alabama is trending for 5-star DT Damon Payne

Alabama has been on the recruitment list, and that trend doesn’t seem to be slowing anytime soon. The Crimson Tide has collected four engagements over the past month, led by a pair of Top50 prospects, and continues to climb the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings for the 2021 class.

Now Crimson Tide is trending at 247Sports Crystal Ball for one of the best defensive line prospects in the country. Alabama’s predictions began arriving Tuesday for Belleville (Mich. )’S five-star defensive tackle. Damon Payne, whose Crystal Ball now reads 88.9 percent for Alabama, while the remaining 11.1 percent is undecided.

National sports recruiting analyst Allen Trieu was the first to enter a prediction for the Crimson Tide on Thursday morning, with an average confidence rating of 6 (on a scale of 1-10). To read more about that prediction, click here (VIP).

Payne has 27 reported offers of college soccer programs across the country, but he cut his recruitment to 10 schools in early February before closing. Alabama was joined on that list by Arizona State, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, and USC.

Initially, Crimson Tide offered it in April 2018 and made an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa last fall. Its lead recruiter in Alabama is running coach Charles Huff, while defensive line coach Freddie Roach is also helping with his recruitment.

According to 247Sports Composite, Payne is ranked as the No. 18 overall prospect and No. 1 defensive tackle in the country for the 2021 draft cycle. He is also the highest ranked player in the state of Michigan.

247Sports’ Allen Trieu compares the 6-foot-3.5, 297-pound player to the perennial Pro Bowl defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, projecting him as a possible first-round NFL Draft pick. Here’s Trieu’s full scan report:

“The junior season confirmed him as a top national prospect. Built as a separator but has the athleticism of a three technology indenter. Chases plays up to the bench even for a big man. He can do a lot of things athletically that players his size at his age don’t usually do. “

With 10 commitments for the 2021 recruitment cycle, Alabama currently has class n. ° 12 in the country and class n. # 4 in the Southeast Conference, according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. The full Crimson Tide class can be seen below.
