Airline Association President discusses federal response to pandemic: ‘Strictest thing I’ve ever seen’

An airline official says the coronavirus’ response is the “strangest thing” she has ever experienced.

According to the president of the union, the lack of a plan and instructions from the federal government has put the Airlines in a difficult position. This has, in the opinion of the union boss, caused problems with passengers challenging certain rules that they do not agree with.

“This is the strangest thing I’ve ever experienced in my 25 years on the job,” Flight Attendants-CWA Association president Sara Nelson said during an interview with Yahoo Finance.

CWA Refugee Association President Sara Nelson spoke with Yahoo Finance about the apparent lack of a national policy on certain security measures.

“This is the strangest thing I’ve ever experienced in my 25 years on the job,” she said. “I have never seen before that an administration has no plans to deal with an epidemic, a pandemic with a communicable disease. There is no plan in place, and there is no instruction from the federal government. “

According to her, without federal regulations, passengers are apparently pushing back on safety rules implemented by airlines.

She went on to say, “What we see – because we do not have that kind of federal support – is that we have people … challenging whether they should wear a mask if, in fact, just like smoke on an airplane, you can not smoke if you endanger the safety and health of everyone. And if you do, you will have heavy fines and maybe some time penalties. ‘

According to its website, the Association of Refugee Residents represents 50,000 flight attendants at 20 airlines. Fox News reached out to the union, but no one was immediately available for comment.

There have been multiple reports of incidents on planes in which passengers were detected that apparently did not comply with face mask policies, including a physical fight that erupted last week on a U.S. Airlines flight.
