The nose wheel of the Airbus A320 crashed into a taxi and into the grass.
After landing at Baltimore / Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport on Thursday morning, Spirit Airlines Flight 696 took off in a taxi, the carrier confirmed.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the nose wheel of the Airbus A320 overturned on the taxiway and into the grass. The agency said passengers were able to be removed by the plane’s ladder.
There were no injuries among the 111 passengers and crew members, Sprite said.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
Officials did not blame the plane’s detention for the weather conditions, with snowfall in the north-east on Thursday, closing schools and causing nearly a foot of snow to fall in some areas.
