If you’ve been online today, there’s no doubt you’ve seen scary news about MLB: The Marlins have 14 cases of COVID-19 within their organization, and several games across the league have been canceled as a result.
But along with that news was a calmer story about the Reds, who had a positive player (Matt Davidson) on Friday and two others, Mike Moustakas and Nick Senzel, scratched themselves over the weekend because they were not feeling well.
In light of what happened to the Marlins, it was feared that tonight’s Cubs game against the Reds would be postponed. But since this morning, Cubs player representative Ian Happ has been in contact with the Reds, as well as the other 30 team representatives throughout the league, and things were looking good for the game to continue as what was programmed. In addition to those conversations, Cubs manager David Ross revealed that he received a more detailed explanation of what was happening with the Reds, leading to an organizational determination that “it’s safe to step on the field with them” tonight. .
Jordan Bastian shares the quote with some additional Cincinnati news:
Ross in communication with Reds: “There has been an explanation of what happened there and the details, such as the behind-the-scenes look. And then we’ve made the determination that we feel it’s safe to step on the field with them.”

We don’t have much more detail than that for now, but Moustakas has been listed and Senzel is not in the starting lineup (although I think he is still on the active list as of now).
