Affordable Apple Watch, upcoming Apple game controller says productive leaker

Apple wants to build its own game controller and may release a cheaper Apple Watch, according to avid leaker Jon Prosser.

Twitter’s public Q&A took place Thursday morning, and the conversation with Prosser spanned a large swath of Apple’s product line.

Apple Watch

An affordable Apple Watch may be coming soon. Rumor has it that Apple has experimented with plastic as an Apple Watch material, which would reduce costs versus an aluminum or titanium case.

A separate rumor says that a new “kid mode” could come to watchOS, which would fit well with a cheaper Apple Watch.

The “Apple Watch Series 6” will not be a big update, but also not a small one. Rumored features for the next Watch include an enhanced ECG feature and an enabled blood oxygen sensor.

Apple TV

The Apple TV could become a more powerful gaming platform with new hardware updates and a new controller. Prosser says Apple is building a gaming controller to compete with the current selection of Playstation and Xbox controllers.

The “Apple TV 6” is ready and has been waiting for months to ship. It is expected to have the latest A12Z processor for better gaming experiences. Prosser says he has photos of the product, but will not share them publicly.

iPad

Apple may release an updated iPad in September. Prosser did not confirm which iPad, but rumors suggest that it will be a refreshed base model iPad as an “iPad Air 4.”

“iPhone 12”

The rumors suggesting that the “iPhone 12” will have a 120Hz display do not look great. Prosser says the display is not dead, but the chance that it will be included in the 2020 iPhone is slim. Mass production of the “iPhone 12” will begin in September.

Other Mentions

AirPower has improved energy management in today’s prototypes. No mass production has been introduced and there is no indication that this will ever be a shipping product.

AirPods Studio is coming yet, but no release date has been confirmed.

Prosser still stands by all the information he shared about Apple Glass and relies on that source. No new information about Apple Glass has emerged.

There is no further information about AirTags.

Jon Prosser is relatively new to Apple’s leaky scene, but has been the most accurate so far. He managed to set release dates for the iPhone SE and new Powerbeats, and even knocked Apple out the door on the recent iMac update. He was also responsible for one of the biggest information dumps on the unreleased “iPhone 12” and provided insight into the long-awaited “Apple Glass.”
