Affirmation of Darkness, Tree Growth, Grandmaster’s Loot

Well, I wasn’t expecting anything remarkable to happen in Destiny 2 this week, and I’m not surprised to see that work almost exactly as I envisioned.

While I was hoping that maybe we would have another phase of the Evacuation search, all I’m seeing points to it being pushed until September for the next step. I think it was supposed to end just before Beyond Light, but now that it’s been delayed until November … maybe we have even more time to wait. Since these are the planets that are “up and running,” I suppose there will be some kind of thing in the game that will destroy those areas. But everything that was going to happen has to be delayed now, so I’m not sure if there will be any more intermediate steps before the end or not.

The only thing that is happening this week is that Grandmaster Nightfalls is live, now for the first time with an improved loot group to encourage people to actually do so. Here are TWAB changes from last week in case you forgot:

Increase the Masterwork Material drops for the Grandmaster Nightfall difficulty.

• Grandmaster completion in Platinum, Gold and Silver levels now has a better chance of dropping an Exotic Armor item.
• Grandmaster completion at Platinum level now warrants an Ascendant Shard (with a slight chance of an additional one) and four Upgrade Prisms (with a moderate chance of an additional 1-2).
• Completion of Grandmaster at Gold level now guarantees two Upgrade Prisms (with a moderate chance of an additional two).
• Completing Grandmaster at Silver level now has a small chance of obtaining two Upgrade Prisms.

So I mean, whatever. I still don’t think it’s worth “cultivating”. I’m currently watching Gladd and the company run The Corrupted on Grandmaster, which is already one of my least favorite Nightfalls to run, and doesn’t sound like fun. But now this season there isn’t even a reason to run them if you already got the title, so it’s loot and win and nothing more, more or less. I still don’t love Grandmasters in general as they are all wrong with me in the current difficulty / meta / PvE champion system. But whatever it is, they don’t hurt anyone I guess.

The only development in the story this week is a new ending with Eris for the Interference quest, where this week’s word is “YES”. The very story that comes with the word isn’t particularly illuminating, and Eris’s grand conclusion is that the Darkness is encouraging us to continue on our current course which is … slightly disturbing, but Eris doesn’t seem to mind, as always.

Now I am watching “Tree of Silver Wings” every week as we witness how a dark mini traveler is born or whatever he is doing. I am honestly not sure if the orb has grown. Compared to last week, I think it may seem like a little higher, but I’m not sure, it could be just the angle.

Anyway, slow week, my advice is to go play Ghost of Tsushima.
