Aditya Chopra to Mumbai Police: ‘Paani’ shelved due to creative differences with Shekhar Kapur, not Sushant Singh Rajput | Hindi Movie News

‘Paani’ was not made due to creative differences with Shekhar Kapur and had nothing to do with Sushant Singh Rajput, filmmaker Aditya Chopra said, in his recorded statement with Mumbai police on Saturday about the deceased actor’s suicide case.

According to the police officers involved in the case, Chopra was questioned about his movie ‘Paani’ which was later archived. The film, which was to be directed by Shekhar Kapur, had announced Sushant Singh Rajput in the title role.

Police recorded statements from 35 other people before him, including the actor’s relatives, people from the film fraternity, including casting director Mukesh Chhabra, commercial manager Shruti Modi, Sanjana Sanghi, Rhea Chakraborty, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, among others.

Mumbai police are also investigating other aspects, including actor Rhea Chakraborty’s alleged girlfriend ‘expenses’ from Sushant’s account. However, the police have also said that it was too early to conclude something based on expenses without knowing the nature of those “expenses”.

In a tweet to Union Interior Minister Amit Shah, Rhea Chakraborty had requested an CBI investigation into the case. The actor was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14.
