One of the cool new features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the ability to use the phone’s front display as a viewfinder for the back camera, which can be really useful for high quality selfie items. If you want that easy way to take a better selfie but hold on to the original Galaxy Fold, you’re in for a treat: Samsung is bringing that selfie functionality and many more features to the fold before the Z Fold 2 via a software update available today.
Not just finding a new way to take a selfie in the fold. This update also introduces Capture View mode, which lets you frame a photo with half of the main screen of the fold and allow you to review up to five of the latest photos or videos taken in the other half. And Pro Video Mode lets you capture video in a 21: 9 aspect ratio and at 24 fps.
Z also gets some features from Fold 2 with the aim of improving the original fold productivity. The app pairing, for example, lets you set a shortcut to launch three apps at once in your preferred split-screen layout. That means if you like to open Twitter on half of your screen and on the other hand YouTube, you can create a shortcut to launch those apps together and set the way you like. You can now configure split-screen windows horizontally,
Samsung’s blog notes that the features included in the launch date and update “may vary by carrier or market”, however, the update will not be available for your folder yet. Samsung says Edge It is looking for when it will be updated in the US.
