Actress Kelly Preston, whose credits included the movies “Twins” and “Jerry Maguire,” died Sunday, her husband John Travolta said. She was 57 years old.
Travolta confirmed the death of his wife in an Instagram post Sunday night. He said that she died after a two-year battle with breast cancer.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer,” Travolta said of his wife of 28 years. “She bravely fought with the love and support of many.”
“My family and I will always be grateful to their doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers they have helped, as well as their many friends and loved ones who have been by their side,” he continued. “Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will take time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you have not heard from us for a while. But please know that I You will feel your outpouring of love in the coming weeks and months as we heal. All my love, JT. ”
Preston had a long career in film and television and sometimes appeared in movies with her husband. They had three children together.

Preston and Travolta were married in a midnight ceremony in Paris in 1991, as the couple waited for their first child, Jett.
In January 2009, Jett Travolta, 16, died after a seizure at the family’s vacation home in the Bahamas. The death sparked a court case after an ambulance driver and his attorney were charged with trying to extort money from the actors for $ 25 million by threatening to disclose confidential information about their son’s death.
Travolta testified during a criminal trial that ended in a null trial and was prepared to testify a second time, but decided to stop pursuing the case. She cited the severe tension in the case and the death of her son had caused the family.
Both Preston and Travolta returned to acting, with Preston’s first role in Nicholas Sparks’ adaptation, “The Last Song,” starring Miley Cyrus and her future husband, Liam Hemsworth.
They had two other children, their daughter Ella Bleu in 2000 and their son Benjamin in 2010.
Travolta and Preston met while filming “The Experts” from 1988.
The last time they starred together was the 2018 movie “Gotti,” with Travolta playing John Gotti and Preston playing the wife of the crime boss, Victoria.
Preston’s death was first reported by People magazine.
The stars quickly turned to social media to pay tribute to Preston and express their condolences to his family, ETOnline reported.
“Amo I love you so much,” Sarah Paulson commented on Travolta’s Instagram.
“I am in absolute shock,” Josh Gad wrote on Twitter. “What an actress and person so beautiful and incredible. It is so sad to hear that she passed away at such a young age. My heart goes out to John Travolta and the whole family. What a loss. RIP #KellyPreston.”
