When Tesla unveiled its Cybertruck, it made a splash because it was definitely a different look from what we see in the market today. Future, with inorganic lines and sharp panels, is the kind of car you love or hate. And automotive designer Frank Stephenson is not a big fan.
Stephens has done design work at Mini, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and McLaren. Motor trend Named him one of the most influential designers of our time, and with a resume like his, it’s hard to disagree. One of his biggest proponents is what he calls “biomimicry”, which basically designs cars with the kind of lines you can see in a natural landscape.
If you haven’t already guessed, he’s not a big fan of Tesla’s work with Cybertruck. But I’ll be the one to break it for you through his youtube channel:
When it comes to the exterior, Stephenson is not convinced that cybertruck will age in particular. It compares it to the original PlayStation graphics – all unrealistic, pixelated shapes – which I disagree with. Tesla certainly went here somewhat for the future, but he can’t pull it off. Cybertruck is a kind of pomp and almost ridiculous.
Stephenson is also quick to grab our attention. ‘ Citroen Carin concept, Which he really argues is more futuristic than a cybertruck. And that’s saying something, since Kareena debuted in 1980.
He also criticizes the interior really well, calling it “anti-atmospheric” and cold. It offers a position that seems unfavorable to the electric car, which is considered to be more environmentally friendly than its internal combustion engine counterparts. Dent-proof panels, too, suggest a future where we seek protection from nature rather than being part of it.
G / O media can get commission
I would never have thought of it from that point of view, but Stephenson is definitely on something here. It seems that a cybertruck is a machine that has built another planet for colonization more than it actually feels with the planet we already live in. It is a combat machine, not designed to promote unity.
It’s a great video and it’s one that can put a few words on the discomfort you felt when you first saw Cybertruck. I know he has done a lot to clear the mine.
