According to the report, the fingers of the Iranian teenager convicted of theft will be cut off

Three teenage boys convicted of stealing in Iran will now be sentenced to life in prison for cutting off their fingers, a report said.

The teenagers, identified as Hadi Rostami, Mehdi Sharafian and Mehdi Shahivand, were ordered to cut off four fingers on their right hand, according to an Iranian Supreme Court ruling.

The boys lost the appeal to reverse the horrific sentence this week.

For the period allowed by the government, the machine is used to view the digits of the convicts, according to the outlet, in which images of medieval-style contradictions were posted.

Under the country’s strict Islamic penal code, theft is punished by the “first chance” subtraction of four fingers. However, in most cases, the punishment is for theft rather than imprisonment – and the harshest punishment is usually given only to adults.

There are legal forms of punishment under Iran.

“Punitive forms of punishment are rare in Iran,” said Narges Tavlosian, a legal analyst at Iran International, according to The Sun. “In order to get this type of sentence, there are 13 rules that need to be applied to a judge to order payment.

The teens were convicted in November of stealing in the country’s northeastern Urmia region.

No other details about the nature of their crimes have been released by the authorities. It was not immediately clear when the sentence would take place.
