A police officer rescued a man in a wheelchair trapped on train tracks. Her bodycam video shows the rescue

Officer Erica Urrea saw a man in a wheelchair who appeared to be stuck on train tracks, according to a news release from her department in Lodi, near Sacramento.

As the railroad arms began to fall, Urrea jumped into action Wednesday morning, jumped out of her patrol car and ran toward the 66-year-old.

With the horn of the train getting louder, she pulled the man out of his wheelchair and off the tracks just in time, the department said.

And thanks to Urrea’s body camera, the entire rescue, which lasted 45 seconds, was captured on video.

In the footage, Urrea gets out of her patrol car and asks the man if he can get up as she chews to try to get him on and off the path of the train.

“Get up, get up, get up,” she cries.

Urrea and the man fall backwards and within 5 seconds – when the two are lying on the ground – the train zooms through, barely missing them.

“Officer Urrea risked her own life to save another and her actions prevented a tragedy today,” the department said in a statement. “We are extremely proud of Officer Erica Urrea and her heroism.”

Police did not release the identity of the 66-year-old, who had a leg injury and was taken to a local hospital.
