A police officer in Rochester, New York, has reportedly been shot in the throat


His department says a police officer was shot dead Tuesday in Rochester, NY, while responding to reports that someone was trying to enter a home with a gun.

The incident happened around am on the west side of the city, Rochester Police Captain Mark Mura told reporters.

When the officer arrived, a suspect opened fire on him immediately upon his arrival [and was] “Striked the upper body at least once,” Mura said.

The suspect then fled on foot while the injured officer was taken to a local hospital by one of his accomplices, he added.

Mura did not identify the officer but said he had served the job for about 15 years and “is currently stable and in good condition.”

Mura says the suspect fired several times and there were no other reports of injuries.

Munra added that the gunman has not yet been identified or identified, but investigators are currently questioning a few people.
