A pack of wild hyenas dragged a sleeping old man from his bed and killed him in Africa.
The victim, 87-year-old Tendai Maseka, was attacked while sleeping in a hut in the rural area of Chirumanzu in central Zimbabwe.
According to the report, the animals dragged Maseka about 1000 feet before attacking him. The lower half of his body was missing when he was found, officials said.
“Stretch marks and hyena tracks were visible,” said Tinash Farawo, a spokesman for the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority. Said on Twitter.
According to CNN, a similar pack of hinas is believed to be responsible for a series of attacks on goats and cattle in the area.
Trekkers from Parks and Wildlife Authority are searching for the animals. Feravo told CNN that animal attacks are common at this time of year, when the weather is dry and animals go to communities in search of food and water.
He told the news outlet that this is the 60th human life lost in human-wildlife conflict this year alone.
