A new Amazon listing for an upcoming Nintendo Switch game has thanked us heaven – which is fitting, given that game is none other than The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
The 2011 installment in the beloved Nintendo franchise was originally launched on the Nintendo Wii, with a release on the Wii U eShop in 2016. It was the latest mainline Zelda game for Breath of the Wild (2017) on ‘ the Nintendo Switch, and is well thanks to a port for the extended audience of Nintendo’s bestselling hybrid console.
Although no official announcement has been made of the port of Nintendo, the mention is clear for Nintendo Switch and carries a slightly eyebrow-raising £ 69.99 RRP – while specifying that the title “has not yet been released”.
What gives this further credibility is the upcoming 35th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda series, coming in 2021 – coincidentally also the 10th anniversary of the release of Skyward Sword.
Do not hold your breath
While we think the mention is legitimate, it does not yet tell how early the information leaked. As mentioned, 2021 is likely to be the franchise’s 35th anniversary – and it could be that Nintendo uses Skyward Sword to battle fans until Breath of the Wild 2 finally hits the console.
The sequel to Breath of the Wild was posted at E3 2019 with a mystifying trailer, one that may have responded to Demise’s return – the big bad in Skyward Sword, and the real evil force behind regular series villain Ganondorf.
It would then be wise to remind players of Demise in the Mythology series – if, for those who did not have Skyward Sword on Wii or Wii U, introduced them to Demise for the first time.
Considering how integrated the Wii motion controls were in the Skyward Sword combat, there is also a lot of potential to reflect the Joy-Con’s capabilities – you know, if they ever stop drifting.
