A new Netflix offering has put ‘Floor Is Lava’ without a seat for # 1

It took most of the weekend, but yes, Netflix’s Top 10 list has changed once again.

Floor Is Lava defended several new competitors this week, including the return of The Order, but it’s not actually a show that eliminated it, but a new movie.

That would be the Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of the Fire Saga, a new adventure by Will Ferrell that a few years ago would obviously have been in theaters, but it’s part of Netflix’s latest campaign to get big stars. for projects like this. And while there is no box office revenue to report, they have obviously found success with it as it is the most viewed offer on the site, even in the US, where many people probably have not heard of the Eurovisio contest on the real life ..

The Eurovision Song Contest is an event in Europe where artists from different nations compete to write and play the best original song in a given year. The concept of Ferrell’s film is that he plays an Icelandic singer alongside a musical partner played by Rachel McAdams. Her rival is a Russian singer (Dan Stevens), and the film has cameos from artists like Demi Lovato and other real Eurovision stars.

The movie is not being reviewed insanely at 58% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I wouldn’t expect much better from a 2020 Will Ferrell comedy. Audience seems to like it much more at 81%, and it’s very popular, for the moment less. It remains to be seen if that means a sequel is on the way, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

So what about Floor is Lava, now ranked # 2? I would absolutely expect another run from that from Netflix. It is a very cheap and incredibly popular reality show, so it should be safe. All they need are new stages and competitors, and it should be pretty easy to get another five hours of competitive live content in no time here, barring any issues with pandemic filming restrictions.

The Order has also worked well, and it may be enough to overcome the “two-season curse” that sometimes hits Netflix shows. There aren’t many other real shows on the board right now, as most are movies and documentaries or reality quizzes, so The Order is only there. While he’s not in the top 10 overall, Hannibal sneaked into the top 10 for television, and as that happens, maybe he would expect to see the old NBC show once everyone discovers how amazing it is.
