The concert environment must be reinvented in the midst of the current landscape that requires social distancing as a necessary component to mitigate the transmission of the coronavirus. A new music venue is being built in Newcastle, England, with the sole purpose of social distancing in mind.
Currently, there are very limited options to see and / or attend concerts. In addition to live broadcasts, Denmark was the first to attempt the drive-in concert concept, and later Arkansas went through an event that escalated fans throughout the theater, with numerous seats marked as unavailable and a large gap. of floor space.
Then there was a controversial country concert in Tennessee with no social distancing or facemask compliance, which was less than ideal as the state had just recorded a single-day halt in the number of coronavirus infections before the show.
As for the future, there is a chance that you may have to walk through a disinfecting mist before entering, but it’s all a bit uncertain.
The joint venture between SSD Concerts and Virgin Money may be on to something with the UK’s first newly built music venue intended to keep fans at a safe distance from each other. They will transform an outdoor space to accommodate a concert with a capacity for 2,500 people, as well as DJs and comedies.
The outdoor venue embraces the concept of “fan pods”, which aims to have sections where groups of fans can enjoy the show together. Presumably, this is for groups that have come together and are familiar with each other.
As seen in the model drawing below, the railed platforms will maintain a regular distance from each group of fans.
Food and drinks will be available for pre-order with direct delivery to your private section. Meanwhile, the restrooms will have one-way access and hand sanitizing stations will be located outside each observation deck.
Regarding arrival, the parking spaces will be kept two meters apart and the entrance will be verified through the registration plate to ensure that there is no interaction between those in the car and the parking attendants.
