The mother, who chose to remain anonymous, claimed she had difficulty getting in touch with Twitch and “hitting a brick wall with her” was “the most frustrating thing of all.” She said no one would respond and there was no way to contact anyone at the streaming company. She tried to fill out an online help form with Twitch, sent registered emails to Twitch CEO Emmett Shear and Amazon’s legal team, and more, but had no luck getting a response.
Fortunately, she received a tip from a now defunct Reddit post that she should contact Xsolla, the paying service company that has partnered with Twitch.
She used the company’s online chat feature and was able to get a refund provided the account “permanently warns it to avoid future unauthorized charges.”
The mother claims that the son is “remorseful” and goes for counseling. He is also limited to just one hour of controlled daily playtime “with the condition that he must do positive activities throughout the day, get exercise and interact in a positive way with the family.”
Hopefully this will be of some help as a story of caution for those who ever find themselves in a similar situation.
