A man climbs on the wing of a plane before takeoff in Las Vegas

Authorities arrested a man who walked on the wing of a passenger jet before landing at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport on Saturday, authorities said.

KSNV, affiliated with NBC in Las Vegas, reported that the man jumped over an airport fence before heading to the wing of an Alaska Airlines passenger jet.

The video obtained by NBC News showed the man walking on wings, holding wings (fin at the end of the wing), taking off his shoes and trying to climb on the wing. As soon as the officers approached the wing, he slipped and fell to the ground.

He was taken into custody and transported to a medical facility, said Raj Rajchel, a spokesman for M Cakaran.

Alaska Airlines said in a statement that the pilot was approaching the plane when the plane was preparing for a closed takeoff to go to Portland, Reg.

“Law enforcement was dispatched and was able to apprehend the man,” the airline said. “Our guests and staff are safe and we are working with law enforcement. The plane returned to the gate for a full inspection.”

KSNV reported that officials believe the man, whose name is not known, may be suffering from mental illness or impairment.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for information.
