A ‘Ghost of Tsushima’ horror construct for dishonorable domination of samurai

Well, my time with Ghost of Tsushima is over because I’ve done everything I can in the game other than finding all the flowers on the map, which seems crazy. And yet I still enjoy experimenting with builds anyway, and while I’m not sure I can beat my Gosaku build, there is one that I had a lot of fun with anyway.

This would be a construction focused on terrorizing your enemies to death. When you “terrorize” someone in Ghost of Tsushima, it is essentially as if they were killed instantly. They run away and leave their loot on the ground, so it might as well have killed them, even if they technically escape with their lives. And there is a set and armor that creates more fear in the hearts of enemies than any other. Here it is:

You need the ghost armor for this. This is not a legendary quest you do, it’s something you get after a certain point in the main story, near the end of Act 2. I won’t spoil how you get it, but it’s the key to the build, so at least you need to be so far.

When fully updated, the Ghost Armor Set:

  • Reduces the detection speed of the enemy by 40%
  • Reduces the number of kills required to enter Ghost Stance by 2 (instead of 7 to 5)
  • Kills have a 30% chance to terrorize a nearby enemy.

So I’m still using this build as a mostly open combat build, but like the Phantom, it doesn’t hurt to open a fight with a chain murder that can get 2-3 kills before the fight even starts, and almost a meter full ghost stance as a result.

But the second part of this, of course, is the charms. Which is where things get even more interesting:

Ikazuchi-No-Kami charm – Terrifying perks and abilities are 25% more likely to occur. So put this on and you literally now have a 55% chance of terrorizing a nearby enemy in every death. And again, this essentially works as an insta-kill. So this is a big part of the reason why it is such a good build. You get this sanctuary charm here.

Miz-No-Kami charm – Another No-Kami charm here, but this one allows you to make stops, perfect stops and dodge more easily. I have this here because they all generate a lot of resolution, which is important for the final part of this build later. You get this sanctuary charm here. Ironically, this was the last charm I got because I missed this Shrine in Act 1.

Knocking spell – For Stagger’s damage, which we’ll use a little here.

Ferocity spell – For a little more melee damage, since the armor set does not increase it.

Charm of silence – This is one of the two Inari Fox Den charms we will be using, this further reduces the enemy’s detection speed, combines with your armor, but also greatly increases resolution gains when fully upgraded.

Inari’s Talisman of Power – The other Inari Fox Den spell, which greatly increases melee damage and health when fully upgraded. You must be in Act 3 to have access to all Fox Dens.

The final part of this build is using mythical movies to further terrorize your enemies. Specifically, Heavenly Strike, the 1 resolution move that does bonus damage against staggered enemies, and then Dance of Wrath, which costs 3 resolutions but can kill 2-3 enemies per use. The reason you use these two moves is because they have a chance to terrify enemies. I’m not sure what that possibility is as it’s not listed but it’s probably not less than 25%. So either you’re adding another 25% to both that and your armor advantage with the Ikazuchi amulet, for a 105% chance to terrify by killing with one of those moves, or in the worst case, just add that bonus 25% once, but that’s still an 80% chance to terrify by killing with a mythical move. And that’s the final piece of the puzzle here, and when you want to focus on getting resolution through perfect stops and charms, so you can constantly use these moves. And remember, you still definitely want to change your stance to match the enemy you’re fighting with.

Did the end work? A large number of terrified enemies that constantly flee with each death you make. And on top of that, this works as a solid stealth build with 55% less enemy detection, and you’ll also have an incredibly frequent Ghost position as part of the Ghost perk set. It is simply a fantastic construction everywhere. Have fun!
