The giant rocket engines near the countdown zero were soon ignited, but according to the United Launch Alliance (ULA), the computer stopped launching in T-minus 3 seconds.
The EDT was scheduled to depart at 3:28 a.m. with a national security payload for the National Rick Onna Nice Office Fees, according to a ULA statement.
The crew made sure the rocket was safe and drained its cryogenic fuel once the launch was officially canceled.
“The bird is in good condition. This one was turned off automatically during the ignition sequence. Because the ground appears to be in the system. The system is working to protect the vehicle and the payload,” the United Launch Alliance said. President and CEO Tori Bruno said on Twitter.
A new launch date has not been announced, but the ULA said it would be at least seven days before they could try again.
The United Launch Alliance is a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
