Family dispute It has been on the air for years entertaining game fans. In addition to its already entertaining format, it also has two other perks: It has a fun host on Steve Harvey that feeds off the energy of the live audience. It also has some fun contestants who can give some wild and unexpected answers.
In one episode of the show, a contestant responded so far from left field that he almost left Harvey speechless. Let’s take a closer look at a wild response from a Family Feud participant and the harsh reality it revealed.
The ‘Family Feud’ format
Family dispute features two teams made up of families facing each other. To start the game, two members of each family are asked a question. For program questions, the program surveys random people to ask them questions. Your responses are used for the show.
The host will ask a question, and the first person to speak needs to give an answer that they think most people answered with. If it is the best answer, that team wins the board. If he does not head the board, the other player may give an answer that then “steals” the board.
Whichever team controls the board, you can guess the rest of the survey responses. Three assumptions may be wrong before the board returns to the other team.
At the end of the regulation game, the team with the highest score plays a final round in which two of the team members are asked to guess the main answers to various questions. If they can get up to 200 points between them, their family wins the game.
The improvisational nature of the current version of ‘Family Feud’

There have been multiple hosts throughout Family fief existence. The original host was Richard Dawson, the Hogan heroes star who became famous for frequently kissing the players. The next host was Ray Combs. Other hosts since those two include ex Seinfeld star John O’Hurley, comedian Louie Anderson and former Home improvement star Richard Karn.
The current presenter is comedian, radio host and author Harvey. Harvey is known for his quirky responses to responses from wild and quirky contestants. Harvey can often generate big laughs from the studio audience with a simple, wordless look. Harvey is also known for his improvisational responses to crazy responses as well.
The wild answer in ‘Family Feud’ that revealed a harsh reality
According to Good Housekeeping, there was a question that Harvey wanted to “boycott” even before seeing the answers. Harvey told contestants to fill in the blank of the sentence: “All men are dogs that need to be _____.” The contestant (named Jessie Sánchez) surprised Harvey with the answer, “Spayed.” Even more shocking? 26 respondents had given the answer of “castrated”.
Harvey couldn’t believe it, saying:
“Sterilized. Wow, really? Sterilized? Dog? Really? Really? Jessie.
After the reveal, Harvey was almost apoplectic in what it meant: the harsh reality that 26 women had come up with this very dark answer:
“Twenty-six women thought we should be castrated. Wow … All men are dogs. That is not true. It is not. Jessie is a good man … Steve Harvey is a great guy!
The answer revealed a stark truth about how many women see men in this country (and quite possibly, how men see themselves). It also showed how much stronger the show is with Harvey in the role of presenter.
Harvey’s ability to react to fun questions and answers is part of what makes the show so entertaining. The public never knows what to expect. Harvey doesn’t see himself as someone up there reading cards, he’s part of the game. It does it less like a game show and more like a night out at a comedy club.
